NEW ORLEANS, LA (May 15, 2014), – Holy Cross School will host the official signing ceremony for point guard and Class 5A Player of the Year Greg White-Pittman, Thursday, May 15, 2014. The signing event will take place at Holy Cross in the gymnasium at 12:00 noon. White-Pittman will officially sign a National Letter of Intent to become a member of the University of North Texas basketball team.
Greg White-Pittman is going to the Mean Green. White-Pittman originally from Houma, Louisiana moved to New Orleans in his sophomore year and took the New Orleans Catholic League by storm. He was an impact player from the beginning. However, in his junior and senior seasons, White-Pittman made local, regional and national teams take notice.
Holy Cross Head Coach, Mister Kirkwood said, “Greg set goals for himself at the beginning of the season, and he achieved every one of them. I am very proud of him for buying in and sticking to the
plan. Greg had one of the greatest seasons in school and league history. It shows that patience, dedication and hard work does pay off.”
White-Pittman garnered many accolades this year. He broke school and Catholic League records while maintaining his focus in the classroom. He averaged 26 points per game and was named District MVP. However, his most noted achievement was being named the Louisiana High School Athletic Association 5A Player of the Year.
NBA Coach and 13-year NBA Veteran, Robert Pack said, “I’ve watched Greg mature and develop through hard work and determination for many years. I love that he’s not satisfied and is ready to meet this challenge head on! I’m very proud of him and I look forward to watching his continued growth in a green machine uniform for years to come.”
When White-Pittman takes his talents to Denton this fall, he will wear the number two on his jersey, to motivate him throughout his college career. “Despite all of my athletic honors and scoring a 22 on the ACT, I only received two offers,” said White-Pittman. “I know I have a lot of work to do to advance to the next level. But, I am excited about what the future holds for me at UNT!”
